mid high classes
class description
Classes are taught On-Line using the RGES Website. There is about 4.5 hours of teaching online each week, and the student watches the videos on a schedule set by the family with great flexibility. There are year-long courses presented in History, Science, and Literature.
History focuses on key people and events through which we see God’s hand and purpose. Science reveals the great design, order and diversity in the creation. Students study complete classics in literature. Wonderful principles from God’s Word are instilled through the trials and triumphs of the characters. Students and parents alike enjoy our challenge!
Reading and written assignments are made each week for completion at home. Students produce a notebook which aids in order, neatness, and organization. Projects, written compositions, and oral reports are required. Some flexibility is allowed in homework assignments in the 6-8 grade program due to the differing abilities at these grades.
The academic program includes map study, Latin and Greek root word instruction for vocabulary building and writing. Students are also instructed through the steps of researching and writing a research paper for history class.
The curriculum includes a single Zoom meeting weekly on Thursdays from 1:00-2:15 pm. Any student enrolled in any of the Mid High subjects can join this optional meeting. The focus this year will be on Year 1 of the curriculum cycle.
Parents grade all Mid-High and High School written work. The Parent Handbook for each subject is designed to give clear guidance to parents about grading student homework, writing, tests, and quizzes. Grading keys are provided for all assignments.
